It’s been a while, but I’m back.

Today, Kathryn and I are on the way to our place in Montpellier. Kathryn was there with a friend in October, but I haven’t been there since June. I’m looking forward to being there again and letting Kathryn introduce me to the places she discovered without me.

I took a seasonal job after Thanksgiving, and unfortunately, it caused me to tweak my lower back slightly. The usual spring in my step as I walk through airports has been somewhat muted today. That said, I haven’t worked since Saturday, and I’ve been feeling a little better each day, so I’m optimistic about the stay in France.

Not surprisingly, the airports have been busy places today. However, the Sky Club lounges have been relatively calm. We arrived in Atlanta just in time for lunch, so I expected to have to wait in line for a lounge under capacity controls. Instead, we found a lounge that’s nowhere near full with an overabundance of food.

This morning, I woke up almost two hours before my alarm clock to the realization that I had forgotten to pack the keys to the apartment. After that momentary panic and a few minutes spent locating the keys, I knew I wasn’t getting back to sleep before we left the house.

To our delight, we received a complimentary upgrade to first class on the flight from Phoenix to Atlanta. The only downside was that we were seated one behind the other instead of next to each other. Or maybe that wasn’t a downside, since I managed to sleep almost the entire flight.
