Somehow, for the first time ever, I managed to get a boarding pass through the Air France app. Mind you, the boarding pass arrived by e-mail and had to be printed out, but it was nice to be able to skip the check-in counter for once. The security checkpoint at the B gates was deserted, so the time between Kathryn giving me a kiss at the curb and sipping my first beer in the Centurion Lounge amounted to about ten minutes.

Kathryn had taken me to lunch before bringing me to the airport, but I decided to have just a taste of the pulled brisket and mac and cheese in the lounge. As lounge food goes, it wasn’t bad. If I had arrived at the airport hungry, I could have easily survived.
