Now that we’ve left Prague, our goal is to get back to Montpellier. It’s a long way from Prague to Montpellier by train, so we’re splitting the trip into three stages. Last night, we stayed in Salzburg.
We arrived in Salzburg in the late afternoon, but with the sun setting around 8:30 pm, we still had hours of daylight to walk around the city. We took in the cathedral and the Franciscan church, and while we didn’t get up to the fortress, we got some nice photos from down below.
We hadn’t had much in the way of lunch yesterday, so I started looking for a place where we could get something hearty to eat. I wanted rustic food in an unpretentious atmosphere full of happy faces, and so it shouldn’t have come as any surprise that we ended up in a restaurant attached to a beer garden. Mission accomplished.
After dinner, we took a stroll along the river, crossing on one of the several pedestrian bridges, and then it was back to the hotel. Essentially, it was a four-hour visit to Salzburg.
We’re on a train to Innsbruck right now, but it’s not our final destination today; it’s just a step in the right direction. Our goal is to be back in Montpellier before midnight Monday morning. Kathryn has next week off, but I have to be back at work around 4 pm Monday.
