Today was one of the more enjoyable days of walking for the past week. The terrain started to become a bit more varied, with rolling hills and occasional stands of young trees. Although the Camino still parallels highways here, today they were lightly traveled secondary roads.

I honestly don’t often look much at what’s in front of me for the day, so it was a pleasant surprise to pass through the small city of Astorga. I caught a whiff of delicious food being prepped everywhere, but unfortunately I was about 90 minutes too early for lunch, so I pressed on.

Tonight I’m at an albergue in a very small village. The albergue doesn’t have its own restaurant, so I’m on my own for dinner. I still have most of the peanuts I started with, so that’s the backup plan.
