The rumors are true: There is a wine fountain on the Camino de Santiago. I thought it was a lot closer to Santiago de Compostela, so I was surprised when another pilgrim told me we’d pass it today.

I had a few sips. It wasn’t bad. I emptied out my water bottle to use as a glass, then filled it back up from the water fountain.

Some people had remembered to bring cups with them. Some who were carrying scallop shells — a symbol of this pilgrimage — used them as a cup for a few sips.
